No one likes to fail. It is terrifying and disappointing. Failure, however, is sometimes the best thing that happens to us all. Sometimes we are not ready to accomplish what we had previously believed. Failure is success, it means there is still room to grow.
We must accept the fact that defeat is healthy for the innovative soul. It provides our creative minds the opportunity to comb through the pieces that may not be working. It forces our brains to work harder and more creatively. Not often does greatness come on the first try. We may have to try 39 times before we get to the top result of the 40th time. We may struggle to find investors or grant to get our feet off the ground. We may hear that our idea is not good enough or that we need to give up. They'll say it might never work.
We may believe them, but instead they must be proven wrong. The criticism must be taken and turned into valuable lessons. No matter how bad the feedback may be, there will always be something to learn. Growth comes from accepting the fact that we will not always finish the mile on the first try. We will finish the full mile when we push our self with perseverance. After the first mile, anything is possible. Once you have accepted defeat, you open the door to endless possibilities. Whether you chose to follow that mile
with a marathon or a crippling fear of the next failure, is up to you. Obstacles do not vaporize out of existence. They remain and often grow stronger as you push through them. You either take the opportunities to grow stronger or break under pressure.
So we must not view failure with disgust, nor should we turn a blind eye. We must look at failure and run fearlessly into the exciting mess that it includes. We must not break or crumble, we must prevail. The next phase will always be unknown and it may not always result in perfection. It is the actions we chose to take through the obstacles we face that truly define our success. The goal may change a hundred times, but you must remind yourself to always go back to the core. The reason you started is always going to be the biggest motivator. We must wake up everyday with a reminder to keep our eye on the prize. Someone is going to always believe in you and that one person may realistically be you. So stand tall, accept failure, grow through the obstacles, and success will find its way to you.
